Baby Shower Palooza

The babies are coming! The babies are coming!

It was all about babies this weekend. Since I know about, oh, 60 people who are currently pregnant (sadly, only a slight exaggeration....ok, a big one, but it's a lot), we had 2 baby showers this weekend for my friends Sara and Christy. They went off great and were lots of fun to plan and be at....but they really tired me out! I crashed yesterday afternoon after the second one. Here are some photos.

Above right, Christy's shower. Left, Sara's.

Then on Saturday afternoon, I got a text from my other friend Sarah (whom I call Chicken) in Michigan to say that her second daughter, Ellie (whom I shall call Ellsworth) was born. I'm not sure of the details yet....I thought I'd wait a few days before calling her and bothering her, since she is now the mommy of a newborn and a 2 1/2 year old.

Most of the babies who have come recently, or will come soon, are GIRLS. Please, someone out there, have a boy so I can knit something blue. All my baby knitting has been pink lately. Hey, speaking of knitting...did I hear you ask to see a picture of my sock? I thought so. Here is one, it is almost finished, and then I will start on another one to match. And THEN.....everyone I know is getting socks. So watch out.

Not sure if Sam is smelling my foot, or is interesting in the needles. Probably the needles, since the dogs seem to think that my knitting projects are, in fact, new chew toys for them. Bad girls!!

Product Endorsement

Let me introduce you to my new friend.

Smucker's Goober - bloggy friends.
Bloggy friends - Smucker's Goober.
Seriously has anyone else tried this or am I the only crazy person who thinks this is genius!! I'm told this product has been around for awhile, but as far as I'm concerned, I Christopher Columbused the crap out of this stuff the other day at the store. This is a lazy man's dream come true. The jelly is ALREADY mixed in. Do you hear me?? No more getting two jars out. No more worrying that the peanut butter from the knife will leave a trail inside the jelly bottle. You just spread and enjoy. And enjoy and enjoy. Which is precisely what I did last night. My dinner consisted of the following:

  • 2 spoonfuls of Smucker's Goober, eaten straight out of the bottle, and though it was hard to stop eating just spoonfuls, I managed to make
  • 1 Smucker's Goober sammich on wheat bread, which I washed down with...
  • 1 margarita

Yeah that's right. Don't hate. I had a pb&j and a margarita for dinner last night. And lookit that...I don't mess around. Even when I just eat a simple sammy for dinner, I bust out the good margarita glasses. Nothing but the best baby. And you may be thinking that this is an odd combination, pb&J and a rita. You'd be right. I wasn't sure it would work, and it didn't.

Anyway, I ate my dinner, drank my beverage and watched American Idol. Blain was out doing something with his new pimp daddy ride, and I was all alone. Free to eat whatever I want, drink whatever I want, and knit my sweet ass off.

This is a test of the emergency broadcast network. This is only a test

Still trying the picture thing out.
Hot damn wouldya lookit that. That is a picture of the cuff of my sock(s). I actually have a lot more done...but now I'm stuck and I need to email my knitty GF and ask her what to do next....
So I really didn't have anything else to say. Just wanted to see if I could get it to work.
Ciao!

I'm a blogger. I blog. It's no big deal.

Hellooooooooo 1999! Lookit me, blogging and stuff. It's a long time coming I guess. The bandwagon didn't stop in Leander, TX until just now.

So here's the deal. I decided recently that I want to be a professional knitter. I don't know (yet) what exactly this entails, precisely, specifically, or even remotely. But whatever. It's cool. I can knit, so I figure right there I have a good start, no? I am trying to post a picture of my socks that I am currently working on, but dammit I'm still new to this blogging thing and I can't quite grasp the picture uploading part. So cut me some slack and I will show you a picture later.

Also, I'm sort of stalking this knitter chick who I love. She gave me a lesson, and now I have a non-lesbian like female crush on her. I will befriend her if it's the last thing I do. She WILL teach me all she knows, so that I can become a Master Knitter. That is what her business card says, and I think it's pretty cool. Her blog is (removed to protect the innocent and also because I don't want her to know I'm stalking her) and I don't know if I'm allowed to put that on here or not, but you can check her out for yourself, as long as you don't try to steal my knitty girlfriend.

So that's it for now. My first blog is kind of boring, but I promise to try and spice it up in the days and weeks to come. And get some pictures. I will not let you down.
