Housekeeping

Knock knock.
Who's there?
Housekeeping.
I have a really dirty joke I could insert here, but this is a family friendly blog. One that I talk about babies and brides and my mom reads it. So that kind of humor is not appropriate.

Anyway, just a quick post to address a few things. First, for those of you who haven't seen a calendar lately, today is October 15th, and it's Blog Action Day and I don't really have any idea what that means, but here's what I know. I signed up on the Capital Area Food Bank Website to take part in Blog Action Day, so I'm posting on my blog today about poverty, hunger, and homelessness in our nation. It's a problem. Some people turn a blind eye to it, some take the approach of "Go get a job you lazy bum", and some do all they can. Honestly, I fall somewhere in the middle of the latter two, but since taking my new job, my eyes have really been opened to those in need, especially in my area, but really, I know it's nationwide.

The organization I'm currently working for is supported by the CAFB. The CAFB also helped a great deal with the evacuees from Ike.

I'm not asking you to donate to the CAFB, or your local food bank program. I'm asking you to take a minute and think about all the blessings you have in your life, and where you'd be without them, and then to ask yourself if you could be doing more. I know I could. With the holidays approaching, and the cold setting in, so many families are going to be going without. If you have a roof over your head, food in your belly and good friends and family to spend the holidays with, you are lucky. I hope you thank God, or whomever you pray to, every single day.

Again, I hate getting all philosophical and preachy, so I will stop there and move on to something fun.

Quilt giveaway!!! No, I'm not giving away a quilt. Are you kidding? I can barely even spell quilt let alone make one. But my friend Reenie sent me the link to a blog who is having a quilt giveaway. Pigtails and Snails is the name of the blog, and all you have to do to enter is leave a comment in the comment section and your name will automatically be entered. I am getting TEN EXTRA ENTRIES for posting about it on my blog and putting the banner on the side of my page. Pretty cool huh? It's a really cute quilt too! So good luck! But I don't really mean that because I want to win! So I hope you lose! Losers! Ahahahaha, suck it losers! (sorry, that was some leftover mean-spiritedness from the Olympic swimming men's relay)

That about sums up my housekeeping notes. Hey speaking of housekeeping, this is a picture taken today of my bathroom counter. Clearly, I need some lessons in real housekeeping. I'm not one for putting things away when I'm done with them. But the new deodorant is working great. Not leaving any white marks, and not making me stinky either.

Hey speaking of stinky.

It's been awhile.

Hey does anyone else think I might have ADD? I'm off to knit a cowl with my new alpaca silk yarn.

Hey speaking of alpacas.....

I'm totally with you on the taking a moment to be thankful for what we have. I may kevetch and piss-vinigar on my blog, but I am truely greatful for the things God has given me.

I have housework ADD. I start cleaning in one room and then see something that needs to be done in the other room and........ off I go. Oh another bright shiny ball...

Knitting note: I had a stash attack and loaded up on some major yarn Saturday. Plus I am starting my FIRST sweater. Scary. Scary.
Ps. If you get the Chronicle, that's me in the Knitting Nest photo. :-) Color me infamous.
